This course pertains to NFPA 1001- 2002 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications.


The purpose of this course is to educate emergency responders who are new to the fire service with basic skills, terminology and knowledge of what a fire fighter needs to be safe and to function as a member of a fire department. This course is the basic structure and foundation to fire fighters beginning their careers or service to their communities.


Included with this course are skill and practical exercises which allow the student to practice

methods to master various techniques. Additionally we will provide live fire simulations, roof

ventilation simulations and force able entry door simulations, using Local Emergency Training Specialists structural firefighting simulator. Not only will the students be able to learn and practice skills and techniques, they will be given the opportunity to experience and hone their acquired knowledge in controlled live fire situations.


Classes may have a maximum of 30 students (minimum student requirements established by the Division). Class contacts and locations for the courses will be determined by LETS with approval from the Division of Fire Safety.


Basic Fire Fighting course instructors meet or exceed all relevant standards with resumes available on request.
