Structural Firefighting

The Missouri Division of Fire Safety has agreed to fund this structural firefighting course. LETS will submit your request to fund this structural firefighting course to the Division of Fire Safety, download and send the training request to the address below.

Training Request

There are 1000 fires a day in the United States, eighty percent of these fires are residential structures. House fires are considered the bread and butter fires in the fire service. Providing adequate fire control and extinguishment for our customers is a fire department priority. Structure fires can range from a room and content fire to a fully involved structure. The success or failure of a fire attack often depends upon the skill and knowledge of the personnel involved in the initial fire attack. It is important that all personnel be trained in proper fire control to ensure the safety of all involved.

Live fire training is the only way a firefighter can thoroughly understand fire conditions, attack methods and ventilation, while in a controlled enviroment. Train like you fight

The structural Firefighting course begins with a classroom presentation describing fire behavior, thermal layering, fire attack methods, ventilation practices, search and rescue, RIT teams, and fire ground strategies and tatics. Students will then participate in controlled live fire evolutions. While participating in the evolutions, proper fire control techniques are demonstrated and students are provided with an opportunity to develope and practice proper fire control techniques.

This course contains the necessary structural burn requirements for the Firefighter I & II program. Upon request, a Missouri State Evaluator is availabe to evaluate your department's fire evolutions.
